Gardening Facilitator - Waterview House Mental Health Day Centre

Tasks:

To help run the gardening group with the occupational therapist or one of the nurses, getting the group members to do the little jobs…everyone does a bit…to know how to garden and plan the jobs involved. And then to link with occupational Therapist and Nurse as to how they felt the group members got on.
Main tasks for the role include:
To be able to delegate the tasks to the group members and encourage involvement.
To plan the task to be carried out in the garden.

Volunteers generally work alongside the staff in the café area .
You can also get involved with groups and workshops.
Volunteers have facilitated and participated in Grinds, Guitar Classes, Art group, Dance Group, Fun World Cup, Children’s Day and the Junior Cert Disco. Carrying out maintenance jobs during the renovation of the Killeany Lodge, such as gardening, painting, repairs, carpentry, house keeping etc
There will be interior painting of house, sanding and varnishing floors as well as gardening work.

We are a national charity raising funds for people living with a rare skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). It is a very painful and distressing skin disorder which causes the skin layers and internal body linings to separate and blister at the slightest touch. We also raise funds to support research programmes that are taking place in Trinity College Dublin, NUI Galway, Queen Mary’s Hospital London and Stanford University USA. This research is to try and find a treatment that will ease the pain and ultimately find a cure.

We will be meeting all volunteers when we have them in place to go through our plans and answer any questions to make sure everyone is happy.
