IT Trainers for Older People- Age Action Ireland

Tasks:

Encourage and help older people to learn basic IT tasks (turn computer on/off; use the mouse; keyboard; search the internet; send and receive email) over a 6-8 week period in resource centres, libraries, day centres and other host facilities. The IT trainer may start off working with another volunteer trainer and a trainer's guide will be provided. Courses are normally run for 6-8 weeks in the morning or afternoon for 1 ½ -2 hours. Some facilities host in the evening time, with a tea break where possible. One-off / periodical training for mobile phone usage also requires trainers. 

Skills/Qualities Needed:

Good, basic computer / mobile phone skills
Patience
Sense of humour

Location of Volunteering:

Where possible, volunteers will be placed in a setting convenient to them. The programme is currently running in the Age Action office in Galway City Centre, sea road; Ballybane, Oranmore, Loughrea and Tuam Libraries.

We are currently seeking volunteers for PORTUMNA, BALLINASLOE, LETTERMULLEN, CONNEMARA, OUGHTERARD, BALLYGAR, CREGGS,GLENAMADDY,WILLIAMSTOWN, ATHLEAGUE DISTRICT AND GALWAY/ROSCOMMON BORDERS.

Age Action Ireland is the national independent organisation on ageing and older people. It acts as a network of organisations and individuals including older people and carers of older people. It is a development agency promoting better policies and services for older people in an ageing society.
