Tasks:Responsibilities in this role will include
Office Administration, Public Relations, Member Recruitment, Event
Management, Marketing, Representing PWDI on state bodies and community
organizations.
Administrative duties and office work. Going out in teams to meet
with disabled people, carers and disability service providers around
county Galway. Informing them about the work of PWDI, listening and
taking note of their concerns and needs, and recruiting new members into
PWDI.
Contacting the Press and Media. Event management including
organising Conferences and Seminars for PWDI.
Representing PWDI on state bodies and community organizations and
doing work on important disability issues such as accessible transport,
accessible buildings, accessible footpaths, improving employment rights
for disabled people, improving training facilities, social inclusion,
monitoring the activities of residential institutions for disabled
people, etc.
Skills/Qualities Needed: Basic computer skills. Good people skills and good communication skills.
Good organizational skills. If candidates have these particular skills,
we can train them in computer skills and other higher level skills.

Time Required: One year commitment needed. 20 hours per week.

People with Disabilities in Ireland (PWDI) is the only national
cross-disability organisation in Ireland. Cross-disability means that
PWDI is for all people with disabilities, whether those disabilities are
physical, emotional
intellectual or mental. PWDI is comprised of a national headquarters
and a network in each county of Ireland. PWDI helps all people with
disabilities to take part in and influence the decision-making processes
at local and national levels that impact on their lives and
opportunities.
