Tasks:

The volunteer would be expected to spend some quality time with our residents. They would sit and talk about current/past topics that the resident would like to speak/know about. Another role for the volunteer would be to take part in ward-based activities.

Skills/ Qualities Needed:

Good communication skills is vital, an understanding of the older person and an interest in the care of an older person.

Training and Support Provided: Yes

Time Required:

6 week commitment, 3-4 hours per week. Certain times are preferable i.e.: between meals or after lunch 11- 12.30pm or 1.30 – 3.00pm

St. Brendan’s Home is a HSE run residential care setting which cares for older people that require long term care.
Every HSE volunteer must go through Garda Vetting Process before they begin volunteering.
